Antique English Victorian Flame Mahogany Linen Press Wardrobe Armoire (Circa 1860) This is a stunning quality large antique English Victorian linen press, constructed with flame mahogany, with a complete linen tray interior, circa 1860, in excellent original condition. This Victorian linen press is designed with a double moulded protruding cornice. The top section comprises of two lovely flame mahogany panel doors. The left-hand door retains its original brass sliding latches, while the right-hand door features the original working lever lock (with working key). The top section opens to reveal a bank of five original sliding linen trays, constructed with solid oak drawer linings and bottoms. These trays provide lots of storage space for linen and clothes. The base section comprises a two-over-two drawer configuration, with further plentiful storage space. The drawer sides are oak lined and hand-dovetailed, therefore constructed with the finest materials, in the original manner. The drawer fronts are decorated with elegant flame mahogany fronts, and brass knobs. Inside, blue paper has been preserved - characteristic of original furniture from this period. The Victorian linen press is raised on its original plinth base. The Victorian linen press also features the original pine backboards. The linen chest dismantles into three sections (cornice, top and base) allowing easy access up the staircase and into the bedroom. This Victorian linen press boasts a rich red-brown mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This Victorian linen press is an excellent investment but is also very practical for storage and would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the bedroom.
