Sony PCM-2800 Professional DAT Deck & VIDEO DEMO!

This is a fully working, with no known faults, Sony PCM-2800 DAT - Digital Audio Tape Recorder. This unit will record from both analogue and digital sources and will play back to either. When using a digital source, such as a Compact Disc, the recorder is capable of making a digital copy. i.e. there is no difference between the recording and the original. DAT recorders were mostly used for professional purposes and by keen HiFi enthusiasts, although the price of these often put them out of reach of most consumers. This is a four head model which allows off-tape confidence monitoring. It has four motors and is also capable of SBM - Super Bit Mapping recording. It's record settings are 48khz, 44,1khz (CD quality) and 32khz. The model is extremely rare, where the built-in SCMS - Serial Copy Management System, will correctly record a signal even where there is a copy protection signal present. It does not remove the protection from the signal, indeed it records it, but it does allow such content to still be recorded. Commercial DAB - Digital Audio Broadcast radio signals on a DAB tuners' digital output, often have protection signals, which means without such hardware, you wouldn't be able to record the radio digitally. The video and photographs are the actual unit that I am selling. The recorder is in nearly perfect cosmetic condition and is fitted with a new clock backup battery. The mains lead has a UK / Ireland 13A plug. The recorder is supplied with its original Operating Manual.
