I am currently bidding on a van with Wilsons Auctioneers, and I've noticed the presence of bidding bots, which raises serious concerns. According to their own terms, the highest bidder should win the auction, but the introduction of automated bidding tools compromises this principle of fair competition. Although the rules allow vendors to bid on their own items, there is no specific mention or prohibition of automated bidding, which creates an uneven playing field. This practice undermines the integrity of the auction process and could potentially violate fair competition principles, putting genuine bidders like myself at a significant disadvantage. Very disappointed with this experience.

I recently participated in an auction with Wilson Auction and was very disappointed with the lack of transparency around fees. When I registered, I was told there would be a €250 buyer's fee and 20% VAT. However, after the auction, I was charged a buyer’s fee of 20% of the final bid, which exceeded €1,500, far more than expected. There was also a €200 sundry charge, plus VAT, which was not communicated clearly. The inconsistent fee structure on their website made it hard to understand the actual costs involved, and the lack of clarity feels like a violation of consumer rights. It’s frustrating not to have clear, upfront information, and I believe these unexpected charges are unfair. I urge Wilson Auction to be more transparent with their fee structure to avoid misleading customers in the future. Then the small things an email with an explanation of how it works regards payment and collection would be of great help, also an email when funds clear these measures would cut out multiple phone calls and emails.
