Antique French Saber/sword

A genuine sword for the French army from the napoleonic era - a "sabre briquet" sword - this was the hand weapon and everyday tool for the 19th century French army's foot soldiers. Total length at 71 cm, it's a quick, sturdy sword, with a stiff blade and feels very nicely and solid when handled. in remarkable conditions - the beautiful brass guard has been gently cleaned to bring back its original shine, and shows just some minor scratches, as you'd expect in an original antique this age. The 59 cm blade, while totally blunt, is in good condition, with no rust but a good level of antique patina which gives it a great original antique feel. Comes with its leather scabbard, with two brass fitting at the top and bottom, the scabbard is in amazing conditions, considering the age of the piece. Someone, during the life of this item, decided to do a home made alterations, and now there's two small brass hooks welded on the scabbard brass fittings, probably to help hanging on the wall.
