Barlo Engineering trading as Clonmel Engineering Works was started by Matt Barlow in 1944 (father of Sean Barlow) .The original premises was in Emmet Street, Clonmel which is where Superquinn Shopping Centre is now located.

The company's first major achievement came in 1948 when we were appointed Main Distributors for David Brown tractors and Claas combine harvesters. This contract meant we were the sole distributors for counties Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford for David Brown and Class.

Business kept going from strength to strength during the 1960's and 1970's, and in 1978 , the newly named Barlo Farm Machinery moved it's Clonmel premises to a brand new facility which was opened by Mr Jim Gibbons, the then Minister for Agriculture.

Barlo Farm Machinery served the farming community with great pride from it's 5 branches, namely Clonmel, Kilkenny, Thurles, Tipperary Town and Dungarvan right up to the early 2000's. A new generation of the Barlow family were coming through ,and in 1989 , Barlo Motors was appointed as Main Ford dealer for South Tipperary.  The ' Barlo' name meant a lot to people and it was seen as a great move forward for the area to have Barlo Motors selling Ford cars and commercials. Sadness came in 2002 when Dealer Principal Ray Barlow passed away after a short illness. The company re-grouped and Alan and Ivan Barlow came to the helm and this is still how things are today.

The Barlo motto from the start was ' Treat Your Customer As You Would Like To Be Treated Yourself ' and this has worked well as we still deal with many grandchildren of original customer's back in the 1940's.

We visited Barlos in Clonmel early December.We knew what we wanted .We had the pleasure of meeting Keith the sales man at Barlos.He was courteous to us ,respectful and very informative when we were there to buy our car.So we bought a fabulous new Hyundai Tuscon due to the assistance given..We had great experience with Barlos it was a pleasure dealing with Keith...I would highly recommend Barlos to my friends and family who are customers already...We are now driving our lovely Hyundai Tuscon.Thank you all..

John was great to organise Tony to pick up the vehicle and drop it back after it's check and service. Always willing to help when asked. They also send messages to let you know if somethings need looking after and when anything needs replacing. Fantastic service from them all.

Great service as usual.
Picked up car and dropped it back after service and car had been washed. Excellent service even if you just have a small problem with your car. They will schedule an appointment and check the fault promptly.  Absolute great service always.

Honestly I had the most pleasant experience. It’s not easy buying a new car, but Jamie Driver our sales person went above and beyond to help. I totally trusted him and will definitely make a return in a few years . Well done Jamie, we LOVE our car.

Took delivery of new Tucson executive + mild hybrid last week.
Good: Car is fantastic, everything I wanted plus much more. So far can’t fault anything important.
Not so good:
Delivery too slow (3.5 weeks). Should be max 2 weeks. Not sure if local or national issue.
Salesman good but lack of communication and update on delivery was annoying and frustrating. As they used to say in school reports “could do better “
As with every car I ever owned, manual could be improved. Confusing as covers different models and difficult to find some info
