Shannonriver Pedigree Holstein Friesian Herd For Sale. To be sold at home in small or large lots. Following many enjoyable and successful years dairy farming it has been decided to now cease milk production, hence the family decision to disperse the Shannonriver herd. The herd is all Spring calving with a compact calving pattern. The herd consists of 126 milking cows and 56 in-calf heifers. The average EBI for the milking herd is €207 based on 126 cows as per the catalogue. The average EBI for the in-calf heifers is €215. Milked on a robot system since 2016 the herd average yield (milk recorded) last year, was 7,056 kgs milk and 533 kgs Milk Solids, 4.02 % Fat, 3.46 % Protein with a C.I. of 367 days. SCC 110. Cows are grazed on an A B C paddock grazing rotation throughout the year with the grazing year typically March - November. Meal supplementation fed to the cows averaged 1.5 tonne/cow last year. The winter diet when cows are indoors comprises a simple grass silage based diet. In terms of parity profile, the herd includes 28 first lactation heifers, 28 x 2nd calvers, 19 x 3rd calvers and 51 cows 4th lactation and older. Genomic testing has been a helpful tool utilised in recent years to capture higher reliability breeding values. The entire herd has now been Genomic tested. The herd was Classified on July 22nd resulting in 2 x EX, 30 x VG and 58 GP cows & heifers. Pedigree Holstein Friesian stock bulls and an Angus stock bull (sweeper) ran with the cows and heifers during the breeding season. Based on this, the expected calving dates are Mid January – early April. A scan of the herd is now complete with calving dates. The herd has been vaccinated for IBR, Lepto and Salmonella.
