Large Vintage Framed Tapestry

Dating from the mid Twentieth Century, we have here a riverside scene of two girls in the muted colours and vague features so typical of the post war era. They are the pale predecessors of a more a violent and raucous present when war babies were now loud and colourful teenagers all for rock and roll and clashing colours and breaking all the rules their conservative parents. But this is a pleasant and restful scene, still popular with a generation who still hankered after a formal and predictable past. Excellently framed in deeply carved and gilded wood. 83 x 63 cm
