Sheath Cleaning is an important part of your horses annual health check & should not be overlooked. A build up of excess smegma or the presence of a bean will create significant discomfort in this area & can cause behavioural issues especially under saddle. It is also vital to check for any abnormalities or growths that may not be visible. If your gelding or stallion is showing any of the following signs he is likely due a sheath clean & check. 🐴Won’t pee when at shows. 🐴Unusually wet in his stable (indicates he’s unhappy to pee elsewhere especially within herd turnout) 🐴Unwillingness to go forward. 🐴Not jumping well or having poles down. 🐴Struggling with flying changes or the correct canter lead. 🐴Unusually girthy or moody. 🐴Bucking 🐴Difficult to hoof pick hind hooves or shoe for the farrier. 🐴Tail scratching 🐴Tar like discharge inside hind legs 🐴Visible penile crust 🐴Visible sarcoid or melanoma around the sheath area.
