1977/78 Vintage Fender Stratocaster

Purchased Originally from JP Stingray Guitars in 2012 (dutch store specialising in vintage guitars. Somehow it managed to survive unmodified for 47 years, unlike so many 1970s Fenders, that were repainted, chopped up inside for humbuckers etc These old fenders are hard to find fully original but this one is. Pots, Pickups etc DATING: The neck heel is stamped 1383 which is in the WWYD format so In this case it stands for the 13th week of 1978 and was a Wednesday POTS: MMMYYWW Example: 1377812 - In 1977 found on the side of the pots, moved to the bottom (and unfortunately sometimes covered with solder) in 1978. The first three digits refer to the manufacturer, CTS. The last four are broken up into pairs, where the first two, 78, stand for 1978 and the last two stand for the week, which is the 12th week. PICKUPS: OOWWYY Example: 121478 - first two digits are an operator designation for the person operating the pickup winder, according to Abigail Ybarra herself. The second pair of digits are the week, The third pair of digits are the year. In this example the pickups were wound by operator #12 in the 14th week of 1978 This is not one of the heavier late seventies strats but has a nice manageable weight of 9 pounds. A few battle scars but fantastc condition for a near half century old strat. Original transparent red finish.
