Vintage Soviet watch Raketa Copernicus

Raketa produced watches for the Red Army, the Soviet Navy, North Pole expeditions and for civilians, and is named after the Russian word for rocket. The Copernicus Raketa is named after Nicolaus Copernicus, the Renaissance-era mathematician and astronomer who formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at the center of the universe. The unique design of the Kopernik represents the Sun and the Moon in a simplistic but clever way: the hour hand is a disc, being the Sun, and the minute hand is a ring, being the Moon.
