It also includes 2 VCO/LFO oscillators with a VCF filter, a classic Moog Ladder filter, and a mono VCA. The Sub Phatty is the first analog synthesizer equipped with a new multi-drive section. At low settings, the multi-drive adds warmth and richness, but when pushed further, it creates a powerful, screaming effect—a true roar that reacts significantly to the resonance level, waveform shape, and oscillator levels. The mixer section also includes some innovations, such as a sub-oscillator that generates a square wave one octave below oscillator 1.
